While I admit I am happy to see Vegas move away from the ridiculous excess of the not so distant past, the idea apparently isn't completely dead. Courtesy of the Las Vegas Advisor, in what has to be the most over-the-top dessert Las Vegas has ever seen, Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace offers the "Golden Opulence Sundae." It combined 5 scoops of Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream with various kinds of exotic chocolates, fruits and edible 23K Gold Leaf served in a crystal goblet with an 18K Gold spoon. All for just a mere $1000! No word on if you can keep the spoon...

I detested the idea of charging $300 for a crappy room because a convention was in town or banging everyday schmoes $500 for the privilege of drinking Grey Goose in a booth at a club. Fortunately, those things are quickly becoming relics of the past as Vegas returns to it's senses. But it's also nice to see that completely outrageous displays of excess are still available in the City of Excess if YOU want to pay for them while the rest of us enjoy our $39 rooms!
